| Marianne Billingsley Marianne is a classical realist, specializing in portraits and miniatures. She has studied with Frank Covino and Valentin Okorov in developing luminous effects of glazing on underpainting. Mariannes portrait paintings are carefully developed in the classical style to achieve an unusual degree of luminosity that gives her artwork the glow of life. Her classical method includes three distinct phases of the painting process. First, she prepares a charcoal sketch which is followed by a monochromatic underpainting, and ultimately followed by the finished painting. In 1995, Marianne was invited to paint in the Louve Museum in Paris to further her studies of the classical techniques of the masters. |
