| SL Spute Stone SL Spute Stone is a long time resident of Colorado. She obtained her BA in art at the University of Colorado, and her MA and PhD at the University of Denver in education. Her art talent was noticeable in early childhood. After teaching many years, being a single mom, and an artist, Dr. Stone is recently retired and devoting much more time to her art. Working in watercolor, oils, alkyds and mixed media, she has had works in major juried shows in the Denver area. Solo exhibits have been at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts in the Boettcher and Buell galleries. Except for early training at C.U., she has been self-taught. The last five years have been mostly dedicated to portraiture. Although she achieves an excellent image, she does not believe in photo-realism. “That is best left to the camera.” Her paintings are not completed until the personality and soul seem to be in the painting. She works from sittings and photographs. |
