| Susan Dickson Susan Dickson is a master of the empathetic portrait. Her portraits not only capture the likeness but the spirit of her subjects. Many years of teaching has given her a special connection to children. Working primarily in oils. Susan works both from live-sittings and photographs.  “I remember the first time I drew a face. When I finished the eyes with my brown crayon, I had the uncanny sensation that she was looking right back at me. It was the most thrilling experience in a kindergarten year packed with many first-time thrills, and it still happens every time I make a portrait.”Dickson credits the Art Students League of Denver for much of her formal education in painting and sculpting, saying, I had the privilege of learning from some of the very best representational painters and sculptors, including Quang Ho, Doug Dawson, Emanuel Martinez, John Lencicki, David Leffel, Kim Mackey, Ramon Kelly, Kim English, and Kirstin Kokkin. She is a full member of the Pastel Society of America and the Portrait Society of America. |
